Great Chesterford Junction Model Railway
Australia
Приєднався 25 жов 2011
This channel is following the construction of Great Chesterford Junction Model Railway. There are many and varied subjects that will be covered during the construction process, because quite a few of the items used on the railway will be hand crafted. Hand crafting is not absolutely necessary but it`s something I like to do, inventing my own methods and using and re- using items that were originally designed for some other purpose. I have no idea when the railway will be completed, maybe never, but who cares, because part of the fun is the building of it.
The layout appears in the pages of Platform 1 MRC railway forum which can be found at www.platform1mrc.com or a direct link to the very start of Great Chesterford Junction.......platform1mrc.com/p1mrc/index.php?threads/great-chesterford-junction-part-one-pre-p1mrc.4951/.

Super mate. Thanks again. Always a pleasure.
👍
Where any/all structures aren’t fixed to the surface properly, the gaps show and doesn’t blend with the rest of this beautiful layout.
G`day Jim, Well yes, but that`s the price you pay for removable buildings.? This layout may have to be abandoned in the near future, but I will take most of my buildings and fixtures with me to start afresh.....that`s the logic behind it. All the best Gormo
Looking great
G`day and thank you for your comment All the best Gormo
Looking awesome. I love the layout. Hi from NZ, regards Bernie
G`day Bernie and thanks for your comments. All the best Gormo
It's looking better and better every time you post. Love the tunnel mouth and the trees really set it off. Great work around the cattle dock and ingenious idea for the water tower to get the scallops. Keep safe Frank
G`day Frank and thanks for your comments, Hope all is well at your end......we are pretty busy here with life getting in the way. All the best Gormo
Hi Gormo. As ever, nice work.
Thank you Paul All the best Gormo
I think your railway is fabulous.
Thank you Nigel All the best Gormo
On board
Thank you All the best Gormo
Very nice.
Thank you All the best Gormo
Great looking layout. Very nice work. 👍👊👍
Thank you All the best Gormo
Hi Gormo - it all looks great. How did you do the low relief terrace houses….i would like to do the same on my layout
G`day, The low relief is just an image I down loaded off the net some years ago. It is simply just printed to the correct scale and then cut out and then glued to the background. I think if you check out Scale model scenery....it may be on their site..?? Found this on ebay www.ebay.com.au/itm/291520443153 Cheers Gormo
Hi Gormo, really enjoyed your June update, love what you have done and will look forward to the finishing touches. The extra trees give the scene a more natural look as you would get in real life. Cheers Greg
G`day Greg, Thanks for your comments and yes we are still moving forward......the additional trees etc. will finish off the tunnel and cutting. All the best Gormo
More brilliant, thoughtful work, nice one Gormo, brightened a challenging Friday for me👍💜😊✌️
G`day Muso, Thanks for your comment and enjoy the weekend. Cheers Gormo
¡Hola buenas tardes Gormo! Some great additions to Bamford and, love the use of the tunnel portal overlay. Seeing the driver’s eye view was great (what make and variant of camera have you used?). Sadly, my recently acquired action cam is too high/wide to achieve any meaningful footage around the layout. Looking forward to further updates. As ever, stay safe and well. Un saludo. Gary
G`day Gary, Thanks for your comments. The camera is an el cheapo off ebay. It`s a TOPO Sport DV.....it does 720 and 1080p. I had to shave part of the retaining clip off to get it to clear on my railway. All the best Gormo
@@greatchesterfordjunction Thanks for that, I’ll add it to my list of possible replacements.
Dear Gormo, love the additions to the Bamford scenes! Absolutely stunning how the three terraced houses add to the atmosphere and depth of the scene. Marvelous how you added the water tower and its retaining walls, awesome how the wall goes further as a scenic divider for the cattle pen. The scenic value of the gate, the repurposed goods van and the access path to the water tower make a small scene pop. Love the effect of the footpath next to the repurposed goods van going down just slightly in front of the backdrop. That little is just enough to create that illusion of a world behind the adjacent walls. I’m almost done with the superlatives, but for a wow on the photo printed tunnel portal. Very interesting how its location is suited for this kind of experiment. Cool to see how you added some more layers of backdrop trees, which really extends the vista towards the tunnel portal. Will look smashing when this area is further populated with some 3d trees, brush and other scenic elements. Love the vid. Looking forward to seeing your next episodes. Cheerio
G`day Vincent and thanks very much for your kind words, Slowly but surely the railway is heading towards completion. All the best Gormo
I’ll just ditto this comment Gormo to save me repeating what’s been said 👍 Absolutely loving all the 3 dimensional scenery mate making it look even more realistic 🙂
Always making great use of tight spaces always a solid watch and top inspiration.
Thank you Josef All the best Gormo
Love that water tank Gormo. I`ve just finished assembling my exact copy of that. Just primed it and getting ready for upper coats. Thanks for the tip on masking the curves. My hands aint that bleedin steady to achieve a good straight line. Lol. All the best from an Englishman..
G`day Martin, Yes painting it free hand would be difficult....that`s why the masking helps a great deal. All the best Gormo
Excellent Gormo !.
G`day Steven and thank you Cheers Gormo
G'day Gormo, Nice update. 👌 I had no idea you have not ballasted or added a tunnel portal in the back corner. Then again, I haven't actually looked into the far reaches of that corner of your layout ! Thanks for the shout out again. Cheers, Gary.
G`day Gary, No worries. Next time you`re over, I`ll give you a little step up so you can peer into the back reaches of the layout......hopefully it will be finished by then. Cheers Gormo
All looking good. Those Dapol kits keep on going don’t they. Has to be about 40 years ago at least when I brought my first kit although they were Airfix back then!
G`day John, Yes there are still plenty of the kits to choose from. I have some wagons and coaches still yet to be built from Dapol. Cheers Gormo
Very well done, congrats!
Thank you Stefan All the best Gormo
Some good ideas there Gormo, I particularly like the treatment of the Airfix water tower 👍
Thank you.......glad you found it interesting Cheers Gormo
You'll never be finished. It's not in your nature. You'll always be finding things to do, having new ideas and solving problems...
Well ?????......yeah...👍 All the best Gormo
good vid on channel keep up the good vids thanks lee
Thanks Lee Stay safe Cheers Gormo
Yes, great vista. The area looks "complete" and "in place" if you know what I mean....Some good tips too!
G`day Chris Thanks for your comments Cheers Gormo
Oh it’s realy nice layout, thank’s for sharing ans explanation. 👍😃
Thank you Sir All the best Gormo
Again some nice improvements, perhaps an ideas, at the tunnel entering you put a cut out bush in front of the tunnel face, some bushes (Islandic moss) in front of that photo would give it some more depth. And what disturbed me a bit is the gap between the mountain and the track base, is that something you still need to work on? But over all lovely layout…
G`day Danny and thanks for your comments. No need for concern as all the issues you have mentioned will be dealt with in due course. I just have not got there yet. All the best Gormo
Thanks for sharing your layout, Gormo, have you thought about doing a full layout tour using the camera car?
G`day Ken, Yes I have done a full railway tour with the camera car years ago, but it was in it`s early stages then.....all looking a bit bare compared to what it is now. It`s probably time to do an updated version All the best Gormo
Gormo. Great work, particularly like the three terraced cottages., they really add to the scene. Pete.
Thanks Pete, Yes it was a late decision on the cottages. I was going through my piles of stuff that I have accumulated over the years and here were the cottages..??? I thought I`d give it a go and it seemed to work.? All the best Gormo
Those terrace houses fit in well and make a lot of sense because back in the day some companies built housing for their employees close to their workplace.
Thank you Yes that was the case in the old days, so that`s a good justification for having the houses where they are. Cheers Gormo
Broccoli paint the stalk brown cover in wax mini oak tree boom
Nice job, I’m gonna try your method in next scale but will use acrylic paints in combo with the chalks. Thanks for a great video
Fantastic job Gormo 👍
Good on you Barra Thank you All the best Gormo
Another great video thanks Gordon look forward to next month's
Thank you Michael Cheers Brian
Wow Gormo that is one transformation, what a lovely job you have done. I have an airfix and dapol version ready to build and you've given me the inspiration to get on. Regards Wayne.
G`day Wayne and thanks for your kind words. I hope your model build goes really well. All the best Gormo
Gormo that was great! When you said at the beginning you kitbashed the footbridge I thought you just turned the stairs round something like that, I never realised youd built the whole roof and sides. That was brilliant. The layouts really looking good. All the best Dave.
G`day Dave, Yes somebody commented once that the footbridge looked rather heavy. I had to agree and decided to find a way and do something about it. The result is what you see today. All the best Gormo
What a fantastic layout.
Hello there and thank you for your comment All the best Gormo
Your welcome,
Gormo, what a brillaant presentation. The work you have done is outstanding...Congrats. Cheers Greg
Thanks Greg, Much appreciated Sir All the best Gormo

@@greatchesterfordjunctionItbalways goes down well watching your videos mate 😂 The whole layouts looking really good Gormo 👍
@@johneaton25 Thank you John Cheers Gormo
Fantastic detail mate, like the shades of your hills etc.ist it spring or summer mix
G`day George, I am assuming it`s Summer.........not sure actually because the back scenes are a blend from different images overlaid until they looked right.........so I`m just winging it...????? All the best Gormo
Gormo. It just keeps getting better. Great work on the footbridge.. Pete
Thanks Pete.....much appreciated All the best Gormo
Great idea looks really good.👍
Thanks Mick All the best Gormo
Brilliant mate 👍👍👍
Thanks Bruce All the best Gormo
One hug from Portugal
Well thank you All the best Gormo
Now that's what you call imaginative, and really marvellously done t o boot. Especially appreciate the hollow sound effect of the narration in the market -- that is true attention to detail.
G'day Ray and thank you for your kind words All the best Gormo
Your small worlds Gormo, are very entertaining and clever. Top marks for the echo when you were in the market building. Barry.Devon
G'day Barry Thanks for your comments and kind words Hope all is good over there in the old country All the best Gormo
